Reverse
Osmosis (RO) is a proven, effective method for desalination
of brackish water and seawater, and for treatment of waste effluents.
Thousands of EMCO RO plants are now
being used world wide to produce potable water in municipalities and private
systems, process water in industry, and boiler feed water in steam generating
plants as well as water for large range special applications. Today EMCO
offers the broadest line of custom and pre-engineered Reverse Osmosis,
Ultrafiltration and Microfiltration Systems.
Since
the early 1970's EMCO has supplied
RO systems, including filters, softeners, chemical feeders, decarbonators,
RO cleaning skids, Ion exchange, Microfiltration, Ultrafiltration units
for the critical areas of RO pretreatment, RO cleanup, and RO post treatment,
as shown per figure 2.
EMCO
systems have been supplied to industries in the electronics, pharmaceutical,
refineries, chemical, metal finishing, food & beverage, power generating,
pulp and paper, textiles, general industries, as well as potable water
for municipalities, resorts, camps, and oil drilling sites. EMCO'S
total system approach and broad technology
base, permit the evaluation of various processing techniques, technologies
up-to-date instrumentation and PLC controls. The result is a quality,
cost effective system which is tailored to clients specific needs and
requirements.
EMCO
pre-engineered and custom designed RO systems, use RO membranes produced
in flat sheet spiral wound elements and in bundle hollow fine fiber permeators.
The spiral wound elements are installed in series in pressure vessels
up to 23 ft 4 inch long, while the hollow fibers bundle fit in one pressure
vessels called the permeator. Several major factors are evaluated by EMCO'S
engineers when determining the membrane selection of materials and configuration
which is most suited for the particular applications.
EMCO RO systems can use a variety
of commercially available spiral wound elements Cellulose. Ace Acetate
(CA) or Thin Film Composite (TFC), or hollow fiber membranes for brackish,
seawater, and waste applications.
EMCO
has emerged as a "worldwide leader" in the supply of major custom systems.
EMCO
also offers a standard "Predesigned" series of water treatment Systems.
